Neymar to PSG: The domino effect on the Premier League transfer market

Source Allfootball

Neymar’s move from Barca to PSG smash the world record transfer fee. It could also have a significant impact in the Premier League.

The Brazil ace finished a £196m switch to the French club and that could have a knock-on effect on the transfer market here.
Below, we imagine how Neymar's switch could shape nine summer deals involving Premier League clubs and players. Our transfer chain is hypothetical but it either involves players the clubs named have previously bid for or is based on reports by Sky Sports or national newspapers.
First, Neymar leave for PSG, Barca gain funds to sign another superstar. Who could replace the Brazilian?

Sky sources say Barca are increasingly confident of signing Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho - and could offer the reds £890m.

That would give Liverpool funds to go back for Southampton's Virgil van Dijk. Sources close to the player expect him to join the Reds.

British newspapers have reported Southampton could bring in Tottenham's Kevin Wimmer for £20m if Van Dijk leaves.

That cash could help facilitate Ross Barkley's much-talked-about move from Everton to Tottenham - the Toffees value him at £50m.

Everton have already made a move for a replacement creator in Swansea's Gylfi Sigurdsson - and Barkley's sale would cover the costs.

With Sigurdsson sold, Swansea would have cash to bring high-earner Wilfried Bony back from Man City (reports claim a deal has been agreed).

With the Swans strengthening their attack, Fernando Llorente would be free to move to Chelsea, after the Blues tried to sigh him in January.

And his arrival would allow Diego Costa to leave, after boss Antonio Conte told him he was unwanted earlier this summer.

Finances from any Costa transfer would help Chelsea in their pursuit of Juventus' Alex Sandro, who they bid for earlier this summer.
